Calling All Autobots is a WebGL experience, that brings the iconic Bumblebee character to life. The interactive website experience matches fans to protagonists from the film based on their personality.

Pulling on motion capture data to drive Bumblebee’s dance moves, we perfected post effects, as well as animation timing and blending between dance and idle states. To ensure the experience ran smoothly and at the same time maintained quality, the design along with all animations were all optimized for web.

Real-Time WebGL

A real-time WebGL experience, that brings the iconic Bumblebee character to life. The target platform was desktop and mobile, including in app experiences for Facebook and Instagram.

PBR Shaders

I worked closely with the artist iterating on the PBR shader for Bumblebee. Since this was a desktop and mobile experience, optimization for each platform was key.

Rigging

Although not my usual role, I wanted to rig the Bumblebee character. I worked closely with the animators to get the character rig right. Some animations were hand made, while others were motion captured. The character was rigged with a mix of IK and FK, as well as blendshapes for the face.
